Photos of roadside warbirds and museum collections are most welcome.
Photos of aircraft as they are currently displayed are great, but photos of airframes in previous markings, with past owners or during a restoration are fantastic as well. You can help document the history of airframes with photos!

    Airframe: Lockheed P-38L-5-LO Lightning, s/n 44-53170 USAAF, c/n 422-8425, c/r N61121
Notes: In 1947 there was a dedicated race for that would be only P-38 Lightnings. John Thompson from Teterboro, New Jersey was one of those looking for glory in this race. He modified his P-38 by removing the turbocharges and intercoolers and rerouting the exhaust thru pipes just under the wing. The nose was modified in a way that really looks like it would be slower rather than faster. The plane was overall yellow with black trim. Photo from the Bruce Fraites Collection.

Notes: I stumbled across this in my collection. No idea where I got it from. But it is Harlows NX4532N at Cleveland, in the mud.

Notes: This P-38M was listed as an entrant in the 1947 Cleveland Air Races. It was entered by Robert J. Harlow of Houston, Texas. The official race results list it as a no show but this photo from the collection of the late Bruce Fraites appears to be at Cleveland.
