    Constructed as an A-26C-40-DT by Douglas at Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA.

    Circa 1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-35640.

    Circa 1958

    To L. B. Smith Aircraft, Miami, FL.

    Circa June 1959

    Converted to a Tempo II by Smith at Miami, Florida, USA.
    Enlarged pressurized fuselage incorporated dual ring wing spars and heightened cabin for stand erect, walk-through interior.

    1960

    Assigned civil registration: N4204A
    Registered for flight testing. Exceeded performance goals.

    Certification came in June of 1960 under FAA Part 9 ( FAA airworthiness requirement for civil licensing of military aircraft ) with a CAR 4b-type ( Airline Transport Category ) flight manual.

    To unknown owner with c/r N4204A.

    To Board of Regents University of Nevada, Reno, NV keeping c/r N4204A.

    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number LAX80FA060: There were 4 fatalities. Incident occurred at 11:15 hours. The airframe was destroyed. This was a local flight from Reno, NV. Stalled and/or mushed while descending. The factors included; icing conditions indlucing sleet and freezing rain. The sky conditions were broken. The ceiling was 3700 feet at the accident site. The visibility was 5 or over (unlimited). The precipitaion was snow. There was blowing snow. The temperature was 38 degF...
