    Constructed as a F-4D-32-MC by McDonnell at Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.
    AN/ARN-92 LORAN-D equipment was fitted to Pave Phantom F-4Ds. They could be identified by a rather prominent towel-rail antenna on the upper rear fuselage behind the rear cockpit. A total of 72 aircraft from blocks 32 and 33 were so equipped. In Vietnam, the primary mission of these Pave Phantom F-4Ds was the seeding of the Ho Chi Minh trail with sensors, which required the precise nighttime navigational capability provided by LORAN.

    To 13th TFW, 432nd TRW, Udorn RTAFB, Thailand.
    Markings added: OC

    5 February 1968

    Credited with shooting down MiG-21 over North Vietnam with a AIM-4D. The crew for this flight was Capt. Robert G. Hill (pilot) and 1st Lt. Bruce V. Huneke (WSO). They were flying as Gambit-03.

    Transferred to 8th TFW, Kusan AB, South Korea.

    By May 1973

    Transferred to 22nd TFS, 36th TFW, Bitburg AB, FGR.
    Operated with markings: BT
    Red tail band.

    By 1978

    Transferred to 23rd TFS, 52nd TFW, Spangdahlem AB, FRG.
    Operated with markings: SP
    White tail band.
