    Constructed as a Lancaster B.I with s/n R5868 RAF.
    Originally ordered as a Manchester, but completed as a Lancaster.

    Transported by ground.
    Transported by road to the A.V. Roe plant at Woodford.

    20 June 1942

    Assembly and testing complete and ready for delivery.

    29 June 1942

    Transferred to No. 83 Squadron, RAF Scampton, Lincs.

    Markings Applied: OL Q

    From 8 July 1942 to 9 July 1942

    First operational sortie with No. 83 Squadron to Wilhelmshaven.

    From 26 July 1942 to 27 July 1942

    Flown on a sortie to Hamburg, Germany to drop incendiary bombs. Hit by flak in the port wing.

    15 August 1942

    Transferred to No. 83 Squadron, RAF Wyton.
    The squadron was relocated to become one of the original founding squadons of the Pathfinder Force.

    8 January 1943

    Transferred to No. 8 (P. F. F.) Group, RAF Wyton.

    From 26 February 1943 to 27 February 1943

    Flown on a bomb drop sortie to Cologne, Germany. The bombing cicuit was not working and the bomb doors were damaged by the bombs falling on them.

    From 29 March 1943 to 30 March 1943

    Flown on bomb and flare drop sortie to Berlin, Germany. Damaged by flak, coned by search lights, and attacked by a Fw-190 and Me-110.

    Flown on bomb and flare drop sortie to Milan. This was the 68th sortie for R5868 with No. 83 Squadron.

    Transferred to No. 467 Squadron, RAF Bottesford, Leics.
    Operated with markings: PO S
    Joined B flight as a replacement.

    Flown on a raid to Berlin, Germany. Collided with another Lancaster at 20, 000 feet over the target area, recovered and limped home.

    Classified category Q and sent back to the manufacturer for repairs.

    From Circa 26 March 1944 to Circa 10 April 1944

    Aircraft overhauled.

    10 April 1944

    Returned to service.

    From 18 July 1944 to 19 July 1944

    Flown on a raid to the railway yards at Revigny, France. Mainplane damaged during the attack with 126 rivets popped in the starboard mainplane.

    Dismantled and sent for repairs at A.V. Roe.

    3 August 1944

    Inspected by A.I.D. Inspector Mr. William Bell. No major structural damage was found and it was recommended for repair.

    Repaired.
    Fitted with four new Merlin 22s, a H2S radar and a Rebecca navigation aid.

    17 November 1944

    Repairs complete and ready to return to service.

    3 December 1944

    Transferred to No. 467 Squadron, Waddington.

    16 June 1945

    Transferred to No. 467 Squadron, Metheringham, Lincs.
    Squadron moved to prepare for service with the Tiger force against Japan.

    9 August 1945

    Transferred to No. 15 MU.
    Allocated as a museum piece, but remaining at Waddington.

    23 August 1945

    Transferred to No. 15 MU, RAF Wroughton.

    March 1946

    Recorded on home census.

    1 August 1947

    Declared non-effective stock.

    16 March 1956

    New serial number assigned: 7325M RAF

    16 March 1956

    Struck off Strength/Charge.

    16 March 1956

    Transferred to Air Historical Branch, Wroughton.

    1958

    Transferred to Air Historical Branch, RAF Fullbeck, Lincs.
    Dismantled and placed in storage at Fullbeck.

    1958

    Transferred to RAF Scampton, Lincs.
    Operated with markings: PO S
    Transferred for display purposes.

    1961

    Some internal items were removed for use in the airworthy Lancaster PA474.

    26 August 1970

    Loaned to RAF Museum, Hendon.
    Allocated to the RAF Museum, but not immediately moved.

    November 1970

    Dismantled.

    24 November 1970

    Transported by ground.
    Moved to No. 17 MU, Bicester, for refurbishing.

    Restored.

    Transported by ground.
    Moved by road using 6 Queen Mary loads and with an overnight stop at Northholt.

    20 March 1972

    To RAF Museum, Grahame Park Way, Hendon, London, England.

    Reassembly completed.

    8 August 1972

    Final restoration work completed.

    August 1982

    Moved into the Bomber Command Museum of the RAF Museam at Hendon. This move required the outer wings be removed., the airframe towed to its new display location, then reassembled.
