    Ferry flight. Delivered to United States Air Force Museum, Patterson Field (East Side), Dayton, OH.

    27 January 1957

    Retired as last prop-driven fighter operational with a USAF tactical unit. Ferried from Charleston, WV to Patterson Field, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH for for preservation at the USAF Museum. The plane *was met over Ohio by an F-100 Super Sabre and escorted to Patterson Field for an impromptu air show.* (P-51 Mustang: Seventy-Five Years of Americas Most Famous Warbird).

    February 1957

    Flew over Marietta, OH for the premiere of the movie Battle Hymn.

    6 May 1957

    *Briefly reactivated to fly at the 50th anniversary of the Air Force Aerial Firepower Demonstration at the Air Proving Ground, Eglin AFB, FL.* (American Air Museum in Britain).
