    Mark Oury comments (5 May 2015): The S/N for N545GW was selected by the builder, Gary Whiteford. When an aircraft is assembled from surplus/spare parts the builder must prove that no other North American Aviation manufactured aircraft has that S/N nor may it be confused with an existing S/N of the Type Certificate holders per the F.A.A. regulations. The existing N.A.A. data plate must be removed from the aircraft. Ref.FAR 21.183(d). I suspect Mr. Whiteford chose a S/N of personal significance.
