MustangsMustangs reports this ID Problem: 44-84634 is not a Swedish Air Force P-51, yet GN96 came from Sweden. 44-63634 is Swedish AF Fv26121, to Nicaragua and reported as GN93. GN93 is reported to be 44-72331, but Fv26121 is not known by any other GN#. MM says reasonable to assume GN96 is 44-63634 and not -84634. BUT, Goodall lists 44-63634 as definitely GN93.Goodall says it is possible the IDs were swapped during recovery from Nicaragua. However, according to Aviation Safety Network, 44-84634 crashed on 7/17/45, eight miles south of Lamont, FL, and damaged beyond repair (written off), and usaafdata.com shows the pilot was killed in the crash. |
