    Constructed as a P-47D-27-RE by Republic at Farmindale, New York, USA.

    September 1944

    Assigned s/n 42-27385 with the United States Army Air Force for administrative purposes. It did not serve with this service.
    Retained by Republic Aviation.

    September 1944

    To Republic Aviation Corporation, Republic Field, Farmingdale, Long Island, NY.
    Retained for duration of war by Republic for development purposes.

    October 1944

    Converted to a XP-47M.
    New construction number, 93-F-12000, assigned to the airframe.
    Pulled off production line and modified as a high-speed version to counter the V-1 buzz bomb and jet- and rocket-powered fighters that were entering service with the Luftwaffe.

    Redesignated as YP-47M.

    From 2 February 1945 to 8 August 1945

    Loaned to National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics (NACA); Ames Aeronautical Laboratory, Moffett Field, CA.
    Used for flying qualities, stability and control, and performance evaluations.

    From 1946 to 1947

    To Republic Aviation, Farmingdale, NY with new c/r N4477N.

    From 30 August 1946 to 2 September 1946

    Raced as #42.
    The race was from Van Nuys, CA, to Cleveland. Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Bendix Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was William Odom. Did not start in the B Feature race.

    From 30 August 1947 to 1 September 1947

    Raced as #42, named The Dallas.
    The race was from Van Nuys, CA, to Cleveland. Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Bendix Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was William Odom. Started the One Mile Course race, but did not finish. A leak in the fuel tank prevented take-off.

    Pilot Bill Odem entered Bendix Trophy race, but did not fly due to fuel leak.

    Raced as #42.
    Did Not Start, the F-5 is a version of the P-38 Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Bendix Reciprocating Division race. The primary pilot was Jane Page Hlavacek. Did not start in the B Feature race.

    From Circa 1950 to 1963

    Withdrawn from use.
    Stored engineless in Oklahoma.
