    Modified with a set of Cessna 310 wing tip fuel tanks were added to the shortened wing span to provide additional fuel capacity for a cross country race. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Harolds Club Transcontinental race. The primary pilot was Jack Sliker. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 254.98 mph.

    For the closed course race the Cessna fuel tanks were removed and replaced with unswept tips made from fibreglass. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Jack SIiker. Qualified in 12th place with an average speed of 331.89 mph. Raced in Heat B. Finished in 7th place with an average speed of 262.81 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 306.42 mph.

Mayday on lap 5 with the bottom half of the rudder trim tab broke off, followed by a safe landing.

    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was John Putman. Qualified in 10th place with an average speed of 417.968 mph. Raced in Heat 1A. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 387.554 mph. Raced in Heat 2C. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 387.366 mph. Raced in Heat 3D. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 371.938 mph.

    14 September 1985

    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at the Reno-Stead Airport (4SD) Reno, NV, United States while landing. The damage was substantial. The pilot had completed a heat race as a participant in the reno national championship air races and was landing in a gusty cross wind when the aircraft left wing was lifted by the wind and the aircraft cartwheeled, resulting in substantial damage to the wings and to the fuselage.

    Notes: Ken Aeroden-Young comments (October 2010): Ken Aeroden-Young I remember watching the landing and thinking,I can not hear anything. The wind was blowing so hard from behind us, I think it carried the sounds away and outward to the center of the course. It was just erie seeing this cartwheel right in front and no sound. Almost happened in slow motion. It was surreal.

    Crashed.
    There was one serious injury. The accident occurred at the Peterson Municipal Airport (K57) Tarkio, MO, United States while taking off. The damage was substantial. The airplane collided with the terrain following a loss of engine power on takeoff. The pilot reported that he experienced a total loss of engine power at an altitude of about 50 above the ground on takeoff. He stated that he banked to the left to avoid a 30 foot dike off the end of the runway...
