    Constructed as a RB-57A-MA by Martin at Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
    Was the last RB-57A built.

    24 May 1955

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 52-1492.

    From July 1955 to 1957

    Transferred to 7407th Support Squadron, 7499th Support Group, Rhein-Main AB, Germany.

    From December 1957 to March 1958

    Loaned to Special Projects, General Dynamics, Fort. Worth, TX.

    From December 1957 to March 1958

    Performed IRAN (Inspect and Repair as Necessary) then heavily modified the plane with a very long focal-length camera with state-of-the-art vibration isolation. Aircraft was then flown to Lear, Inc. at Grand Rapids, MI, for installation of flight programmer.

    From March 1958 to February 1959

    Returned from loan to 7407th Support Squadron, 7499th Support Group, Rhein-Main AB, Germany.

    While flying with the 7407th Support Squadron this aircraft flew special high-altitude peripheral reconnaissance missions in support of Project SHARP CUT. The aircraft used its very long focal-length camera to look into Warsaw Pact territory without actually overflying it. For the SHARP CUT missions the aircraft had a crew of two, pilot and navigator. Both wore pressurized flight suits and helmets. The navigator also doubled as the camera operator.

    Transferred to Air Materiel Command HQ, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.

    Transferred to 4440th Aircraft Delivery Group, VA.

    December 1960

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.
    Retired from service to USAF Museum system.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
