    To LAN Chile with new c/r CC-CCG (Douglas DC-6B, 45513/1004).

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was destroyed. There were 87 fatalities. There were 17,085 hours on the airframe at the time. The international scheduled passenger flight departed Santiago-Los Cerrillos Airport (ULC/SCTI), Chile and was destined for Buenos Aires/Ezeiza-Ministro Pistarini Airport, BA (EZE/SAEZ), Argentina. The accident occurred at near San Jose Volcano (Chile) while en route. Narrative: Struck a mountain at FL120 in the Las Melosas area of the Andes. PROBABLE CAUSE: The pilot failed to adopt the correct procedure for climbing out of Santiago...
