    Constructed as a C-130E-LM by Lockheed at Marietta, GA.

    Circa 1964

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 64-0523.

    1966

    Converted to a MC-130E.
    One of the first four MC-130E conversions.

    1966

    Transferred to 7th SOS, Sembach Air Base, West Germany.

    By October 1970

    Transferred to 15th SOS, Nha Trang Air Base, South Vietnam.

    November 1970

    Aircraft was modified at LAS Ontario with installation of FL-2B FLIR sets borrowed from the Heavy Chain project to compensate for difficulties in terrain-following created by the slow speeds necessitated by the mixed aircraft force.

    21 November 1970

    Flew as the lead aircraft (Cherry 1) during the Son Tay Raid in an attempt to rescue American POWs.

    By June 1988

    Transferred to 7th SOS, Rhein-Main Air Base, West Germany.
    Operated with markings: Midnight Creeper

    March 1997

    Transferred to 711th SOS, 919th OG, Duke Field, FL.

    By July 2006

    Transferred to 8th SOS, 1st SOG, Hurlburt Field, FL.

    22 June 2012

    Last flight.
    Flew from Duke Field, FL, to Cannon AFB, NM, for retirement and eventual static display.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
