    Constructed as a C-47A-60-DL by Douglas at Long Beach, California, USA.

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-24338.

    16 September 1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Canadian Air Force with s/n 661 as a Dakota III.

    New serial number assigned: KG661 RCAF

    April 1969

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Aircraft Establishment with s/n KG661.

    July 1979

    New serial number assigned: ZA947 RAE
    Research showed that the serial KG661 had previously belonged to a Dakota that had been destroyed in an accident. So the serial number was changed to a new one.

    By 1980

    Transferred to RAE Farnborough.
