    Redesignated as F-47N.

    By September 1948

    Transferred to 49th FS, 14th FG, Air Defense Command, Dow Field, Bangor, ME.

    24 September 1948

    Crashed.
    Force landed after engine failure at Dow AFB.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    Markings Applied: 42-26418
    Although the tail number is incorrect (it should be 42-26418) the markings of P-47 depict the P-47D flown by top US fighter ace Lt. Colonel (later Col.) Francis S Gabreski.
