    Constructed as a C-53D-DO by Douglas at Santa Monica, CA.

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-68772.

    Converted to a DC-3A.

    To unknown owner with c/r NC45364.

    To unknown owner with c/r PP-XDI.

    By 6 March 1955

    To REAL Transportes Aereos with new c/r PP-YPZ (Douglas DC-3A, 11699).

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was written off. There were five fatalities. This was a domestic scheduled passenger flight. The accident occurred at Vitoria Da Conquista Airport, BA (VDC) (Brazil) while landing. Narrative: On approach to Vitoria da Conquista Airport the landing gear was lowered. The undercarriage did not lock, so the pilot-in-command made an overshoot. During the turn to the left to join the circuit, the DC-3 struck a pole, crashed and caught fire. PROBABLE CAUSE: 1) Imprudence on the part of the pilot who did not maintain correct attitude whilst the inspection was being made to ascertain the position of the landing gear...
