    Transported by ground.
    To Muroc Dry Lake, CA.

    18 September 1948

    First flight.
    Worlds first delta-winged jet aircraft to fly.

    14 May 1949

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 46-0682.

    Chuck Yeager was first USAF pilot to fly the XF-92A.

    February 1953

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics with s/n 46-0682.

    May 1953

    Painted in unusual camouflage and marked as MiG-23 for movie Jet Pilot, but scenes were cut from the film.

    14 October 1953

    Last flight.
    Nose gear collapsed on landing.

    Circa 1954

    To United States Air Force Recruiting Service.
    Used as traveling display.

    1965

    To University of the South, Sewanee, TN.
    Placed on static display at Franklin County Airport with steel ladder up to cockpit.

    Vandals broke in aircraft and stole instruments and did other damage until the aircraft was rescued by the NMUSAF.

    1969

    Transported by ground. Delivered to United States Air Force Museum, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
    Transported directly to Wright Field for storage.

    By 1996

    Restoration started.
