    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-83228 as a C-49H.
    The serial was assigned for administrative purposes.

    17 March 1945

    Transferred to 33 SQDN RAAF.

    5 May 1945

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was written off. There were six fatalities. The military flight departed Brisbane-Archerfield Airport, QLD (YBAF), Australia and was destined for Higgins Field, QLD (ABM/YBAM), Australia. The accident occurred at 3,5 km (2. 2 mls) NW of Higgins Field, QLD (ABM) (Australia) while on approach. Narrative: the C-49 struck the top of a hill while landing in darkness.

    Written off.

    Abandoned.
    The wreck was still there in 1978.
