    Base of operations changed.
    Deployed to Ramstein Air Base, FRG, to carry out alert duties while the resident 86th Tactical Fighter Wing transitioned from the F-4E to the F-16C.

    28 January 1988

    Damaged.
    During takeoff, the right engine caught fire. The crew at the time, Brig. Gen. T.E. Becklund and Lt. Col. John R. Foyen were forced to abort takeoff and egress from the aircraft. The damage was considerable and the aircraft was written off.
