    Constructed as a P-80A-1-LO by Lockheed at Burbank, California, USA.

    Circa 1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-85044.

    Transferred to Flight Test Division, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    From 30 August 1946 to 2 September 1946

    Raced as #044.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Weatherhead Service Jet Speed Dash. The primary pilot was Lieutenant W J McAuley. Raced in the Medallion race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 566.617 mph.

    From 30 August 1946 to 2 September 1946

    Raced as #PN-044.
    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Thompson Trophy Jet Division race. The primary pilot was Major R.O Chilstrom. Started the Medallion race, but did not finish. Left the race on the third lap.

    Later fitted with a second cockpit in the nose to test the prone position.

    Fitted with upward-firing guns.
