    Constructed as a HD.1 by Aeroplanes Hanriot et Cie at Boulogne-sur-Seine, France.

    To Charles Nungesser.

    1924

    Nungesser brought this aircraft to USA for barnstorming tour.

    Circa 1924

    Assigned civil registration: N5934

    From December 1924 to January 1925

    Used during filming of The Sky Raider. Aside of piloting his HD.1, Nungesser also played the leading role.

    Circa 1928

    To James E. Granger, Clover Field, California, USA keeping c/r N5934.
    Acquired after Nungesser disappeared in May 1927 during attempt to fly over the Atlantic.

    From Circa 1928 to 1934

    Granger used the aircraft renting it as an attraction during airshows, fairs and various gatherings. Reportedly he also few it in several movies.

    Notes: HD.1 on display at Ocean Park Pier, Santa Monica, California, USA. Most likely during 10th anniversary of World War I end. Note the registration numbers 5934 painted on top of upper-right wing.

    To Mildred C. Granger, Palm Springs, California, USA.
    After her husbands death, Mrs. Granger continued to renting out the aircraft. For example, in 1938 the HD.1 was placed in front of the Fox Theater in Pomona to promote Men with Wings film.

    Based with Roosevelt Field Historical Museum, Garden City, New York, USA.

    1951

    To Edward T. Maloney.

    Restored.

    From 1957 to 1963

    Placed on display with Air Museum/Ed Maloney, Claremont, CA.

    Markings Applied: USS MISS, A5624
    Painted to commemorate the HD.2 BuNo A5624 from the US Navy, which was launched in 1919 from a platform built atop one of the turrets of the battleship USS Mississippi.

    Placed on display with Planes of Fame Air Museum/Ed Maloney, Ontario Airport, Ontario, CA.
