Crashed. The accident occurred at the Stead AFB Airport (4SD) Reno, NV, United States while maneuvering. The damage was substantial. The engine failed caught fire during the national championship air races. The pilot stated he was pre-occupied trying toput out the engine fire turned base too late. The aircraft landed short of the runway on a poorly graded road the pilot lost control of the aircraft. For a complete description of the event read the NTSB Report. |
