Crashed.
During a transit flight from Edmonton to Hamilton for an air show, Lt. Bill McKenzie ran out of fuel due to a malfunctioning external fuel tank and ditched the plane in Helenbar Lake. Its a shallow lake so its tail was just above the surface. |

Bill McKenzie was officially declared dead by the RCAF after a search effort had found nothing. |

After staying with the plane as he had been told, a rain and hail storm doused the fire he had managed to maintain so he had to head out on his own. |
