    Circa 1960

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 59-1601.

    Transferred to Air Force Test and Evaluation Center, Edwards AFB, CA.

    8 June 1966

    Flying formation with XB-70 62-0207 and other aircraft when the XB-70 and F-104 suffered a mid-air collision, destroying both aircraft.

    May 1968

    Loaned to Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Marietta, GA.
    Loaned for testing purposes.

    April 1971

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
