    Patrolling U.S. East Coast.

    17 July 1940

    Transferred to USS Wasp (CV-7).
    Maneuvers in Caribbean Sea.

    Circa December 1940

    Transferred to Scouting Squadron 41 (VS-41), USS Ranger.
    Flew neutrality patrols off east coast.

    10 September 1942

    Transferred to VB-9, USS Essex (CV-9).

    March 1943

    Transferred to NAS Norfolk, VA.
    Stationed here for overhaul.

    May 1943

    Transferred to Carrier Qualification Training Unit, Atlantic.

    18 May 1943

    Transferred to Carrier Qualification Training Unit, Glenview NAS, IL.
    Assigned to the USS Wolverine (IX-64).

    June 1943

    Crashed.
    Crashed into Lake Michigan, flown by USMC 2nd Lt. A.W. Lemmons after arresting hook snagged the barrier and forced the aircraft to crash into the starboard side of the deck and slip over the side into the water. Lemmons was rescued as the aircraft sank.

    28 July 1943

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Navy.

    1990

    Recovered.
    Recovered by Taras Lyssenko of AT and T Recovery of Chicago, IL, in 130 ft of water.

    To National Naval Aviation Museum, NAS Pensacola, Pensacola, FL.
