    Constructed as an AS-8.
    Was a British racing version of the Airspeed AS.6 Envoy built by Airspeed (1934) Limited at Portsmouth

    From 20 August 1934 to 3 October 1937

    To Captain T. Neville Stack and Sydney Lewis Turner with new c/r G-ACMU (AS8 VICEROY, 18).
    Operated with markings: 58

    Notes: Airspeed Viceroy, G-ACMU, at RAF Mildenhall, for the MacRobertson Air Race, 1934

    Built to compete in the England-Australia MacRobertson Air Race. Only one aircraft, registered G-ACMU, was built.

    Withdrawn from the race at Athens due to mechanical problems - subsequently returned to Uk and stored at Portsmouth until July 1936.

    August 1936

    Sold by the French concern, SFTA and departed to France en route to the Spanish Civil War.
