    Constructed as a C-54D-10-DC by Douglas at Chicago, IL.

    Circa 1942

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-72709.

    By 1967

    Transferred to 178th FIS, 119th FIG, North Dakota ANG, Fargo ANGB, ND.

    18 November 1967

    Damaged.
    While returning to Fargo from Chanute AFB, IL, this C-54s No.3 engine came loose while in flight and fell off the aircraft. NDANG Pilots Lt. Col. Alexander Macdonald and Lt. Col. Thorton Becklund had to circle the base for several minutes as crash preparations were made on the runway. The two managed to land the plane with no difficulties. Onboard the plane at the time was then-ND Governor Bill Guy and his wife.
