    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 42-72399.

    To Pan American World Airways Inc, New York, NY with c/r N88900.

    12 September 1959

    Crashed.
    Summary: The airframe was written off. There were three fatalities. The cargo flight departed San Salvador/Ilopango International Airport (SAL/MSSS), El Salvador and was destined for Miami International Airport, FL (MIA/KMIA), United States of America. The accident occurred at near Mercedes (Honduras) while en route. Narrative: Because of late arrival of the plane and cargo loading equipment problems, the DC-4, named Clipper Fearless, departed San Salvador 5 hours late - at 03:45. Some 43 miles north San Salvador the aircraft was seen flying up a ravine, barely clearing treetops...
