    Constructed as a Rafale A.
    One of four prototypes.

    From Circa September 1985 to Circa December 1985

    Was the airframe used in the rollout of Rafale A technology demonstrator.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Armee de l Air with s/n 01 {1}.
    Military s/n and civilian c/r carried concurrently.

    To French Ministry of Defence with c/r F-ZWRE.
    Operated by Dassault.

    4 July 1986

    First flight.
    Powered by two GE F404 engines, as the intended SNECMA M88 was not yet reliable enough.

    11 September 1988

    1990

    Became a flying test bed for the Snecma M88 turbofan engine used as the left powerplant. The right powerplant remained a GE F404.

    4 January 1994

    Last flight.
    867th, and last flight. Retired.

    Placed on display with Musee de L air et de L Espace (The Air and Space Museum), Le Bourget, Paris, Ile-De-France.
