    The race was from Palm Springs, CA, to Cleveland. Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Transcontinental race. The primary pilot was Bob Guilford. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 224 mph. Made three refueling stops along the way.

    Appeared at the National Championship Air Races to compete in the Unlimited class, but did not qualify. The primary pilot was Bob Guilford. There is photo evidence this Mustang attended in 1967, but it is not clear if there was an intent to compete.

    Raced as #3.
    The race was from Milwaukee, WI, to Reno. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Harolds Club Transcontinental race. The primary pilot was Bob Guilford. Raced in the One Mile Course race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 189.27 mph.

    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number LAX72FUQ15: There were 2 fatalities. Incident occurred at 18:35 hours. The airframe was destroyed. This was a local flight from Van Nuys, CA. The airframe failed in flight while performing aerobatics. The factors included; separation in flight. A fire broke out after impact. Report remarks include: Left wing separated. Incident occurred at or near Palmdale, CA.
