    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 58-1688.

    January 1962

    Transferred to 18th Aviation Company for deployment to Vietnam.

    By 1980

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Fuerza Aerea de Nicaragua with s/n FAN-1014.

    4 November 1987

    To C and S Enterprises of Hawkesbury, ON with new c/r C-FANJ.

    2 December 1987

    To 40 Mile Air, Tok, AK with new c/r N5056Q.

    10 February 1989

    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at the Fairbanks Airport (FAI) Fairbanks, AK, United States while taking off. The damage was substantial. The pilot reported that before the flight, the wings stabilizer were swept, leaving a layer of polished frost. Freight was loaded the aircraft was serviced to bring the fuel level up to 120 gallon. After start, taxi run-up, the pilot began his takeoff from the approach end of the 10300 feet runway (with 35 mp 2250 RPM)...

    Notes: Otter c/n 296 has had numerous registrations including N103SY,C-FFIJ,C-FXZD and its latest being C-GRRJ, where it is now working in Manitoba. It is a Viet Nam veteran and was hit by gunfire and patches can be seen on the fuselage.
